ANCEA Projects

Dear friends,

The Asia-Northwest Cultural Education Association is moving forward with many new and exciting projects that will continue our mission to promote Asian culture and understanding through the use of Japanese Animation.

PROJECT OUTLINES 2003 - 04

Tacoma Library

Julie Lynch-Allen/Jeff Allen
Need Volunteers

Still in the planning stages; tentatively a weekend series of cultural
events celebrating Asian culture. ANCEA has been approached to help provide
volunteers to talk about anime, manga and games; people who can draw or make
origami; etc. We have discussed everything from kite making to tea
ceremonies, to kendo demonstrations in the parking lot. This is still in
process; more information as it becomes available. I would really like a lot
of people to get involved; it sounds kind of fun. Contact person: Julie-Lynch-Allen

Senior Projects Project

Spring 2004
Christopher MB Louck
Need Volunteers

Graduation requirements are changing, and one of the changes is the Senior
Project. Seniors are required to job shadow folks and volunteer to do
amazing things. In keeping with our education mission, Chris has talked to
people in the Puyallup school district about the possibility of kids working
with Sakura-Con/ANCEA people to help put on a convention. And, guess what?
Teachers think this is a great idea!! Chris is the contact person here. More
information as it becomes available.

PAST PROJECTS

High School Day
April 23 2004
Need Volunteers

As part of the education mission we are looking into the possibility of
having a Friday High School Day at the con. Students will be brought in with
their supervisors, offered a special admission price, given a cycle of 4
things to do, and be given guided tours through the cycle. Friday is a small
attendance day, especially from 9:30 to 1:30. We are envisioning a separate
entrance, separate badges that would give them a discount when they come
back later Friday night or Saturday, and a specially designed schedule that
would answer to our education needs as well as theirs. Contact person?
Currently we don't have one. Julie, Wally, Max, Chris, are among the
creative minds wrestling with this one. Want to help? Email the staff
mailing list. One of us will get it.
