In the past year, the ANCEA Board has set a policy to expand it’s visibility in the community through outreach. Several individuals have accomplished that goal. Richard Freitas created and organized an opportunity through the Puyallup Fair’s Hobby Hall with an anime exhibit. For 16 days, 1,205,175 people were educated about anime. Isaac Alexander and Dawn Minges co-coordinated and organized a booth showcasing anime at the Eastside Nihon Matsuri Association’s 3-day Aki Matsuri Festival at Bellevue Community College. ANCEA got its first television exposure thanks to Gabe de los Angeles who co-coordinated and organized volunteers for the KCTS9 pledge drive. These events would not have been successful without their direction and the help of many wonderful volunteers.

The ANCEA Board wishes to thank, commend, and congratulate Richard, Isaac, Dawn, and Gabe on a job well done.

Respectfully submitted,

Wallis Garrett-Lindsey
ANCEA Secretary

January 2001

ANCEA Logo Contest (Deadline is February 28, 2001)
We are looking for a logo that will represent the Asia Northwest Cultural Education Association (ANCEA). The words both Asia and Northwest are in our name so, we want specifically something that has a little of both. A couple of examples might be Mt. Rainier with a Sakura tree in the foreground or some Japanese temple and an evergreen tree? Just a thought to give you all a basic idea.

We want something that is going to last for years to come, look professional on both the website and any letterhead or envelopes we send to various buisnesses or non-profit groups. The logo is part of our image and, we want that to show what we are. The logo will also be on a new banner that will be designed to go with the current Sakura Con one to be displayed.

Guidelines (subject to change - revised 1-5-2001)
The logo must have green as one of the colors, as this represents the Northwest.
Submissions should be in GIF or JPEG format for the review process.
Deadline for submissions is February 28, 2001.
Submissions
Please submit your logo design in GIF or JPEG format to either Dan Harrison or Wally Garrett-Lindsey by February 28, 2001.

The Prize
For those of you that are or consider yourself to be great artists or designers, here's what you get if you win this contest.

Free Sakura Con 2001 T-shirt ($20.00 value?)
